Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is facing a growing challenge. On one hand, the disability epidemics and the ageing of the population generate an increasing need of the impaired person for a comprehensive approach, like the one proposed by PRM. This Specialty rejects an organ-bound identity, and claims for a broader scope, ranging from treating biomedical impairments to abating disability-related social limitations. This claim may make PRM look like a generic medical field, closer to social care than hard science. Abandoning such an erroneous perspective needs asserting that PRM is at the core of the scientific model of Medicine, although it has specific research paradigms. The new Auxologico President in Băile Felix, Oradea-Romania, will be presented. The Centre strives to practice this proud vision of PRM as rigorous science.

On the first day of the meeting, cutting-edge research, clinical and educational topics in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine will be presented. On the second day, two practical workshops will introduce the participants to emerging practices, i.e., the treatment of spasticity with botulinum toxin and diagnostic and therapeutic non-invasive (magnetic and electric) brain stimulation.
